Allied Arts gets their name in lights!

I took a trip to Oklahoma City today to photograph the Fred Jones Industries building for OVAC’s upcoming 12×12 show and meet with those talented guys over at the Foundry Collective about the new site they are developing for me – and in their new office/studio space (which is amazing, if you haven’t seen it). A trip to Coffee Slingers is very near mandatory for me every time I go to OKC, and today I got to witness a really cool moment on Broadway. In the course of events I met some great women who do amazing work supporting the arts in our community, as well as some gentlemen who do very nice work on signage. (Did I mention I’m fascinated by large machinery?) Congrats to Allied Arts OKC on their new sign!

I was too busy dancing to take photos during the JonBear Fourtet show the other night at the brewhouse, but I did let loose with my camera afterward. Thought I’d get these silly pictures up before they got lost under an avalanche of wedding photos (to come, of course…)

I am so proud of my friends Jordan and Max. Jordan is off to the Marshall Islands to teach with WorldTeach and Max is off to South Africa with the Peace Corps. I have cherished these last few days with them so much – enjoying food with friends and family, laughing, singing, dancing… here’s to watching the mailbox, and to having two really good reasons to start printing and mailing out my photographs again.

Fourth of July

I was happy to enjoy a traditional fourth of July weekend of eating, sleeping, and playing outdoors with my family. Every time we observe this tradition I find myself asking why we don’t do things like this more often. As far as family outings go, it’s hard to beat frisbee, fishing, burgers and boat rides…

One of my dearest friends is currently on a plane to Morocco, after a whirlwind of shooting on her documentary over the last few weeks. Throughout the course of assisting her in this work, I have been so deeply moved by the stories and perspectives we’ve heard from every person we’ve come into contact with, and find myself wide-eyed and grateful every day that I have the opportunity to help a friend with such a worthy project. Amina is an absolute powerhouse and has put so much time and effort over the last six to seven months making this idea into a reality, and I am so happy to be able to support someone who, in turn, has shown me so much love and support over the years. The next month and a half will find us worlds apart but working still on this project, which we hope to show to public eyes this fall… until then, I’d like to share a few behind the scenes photos, and my excitement in anticipation of the work to come.

I was really excited to capture Ashley and Robert’s wedding last weekend out at Thunderbird Chapel. The location is incredible, and the wedding coordinators did a really great job getting everything and everyone where they needed to be to make things run smoothly. A beautiful bride, a nervous groom, and a room full of supportive friends and family, many of whom were moved to tears by the ceremony. So much happiness in one day! Congratulations, Ashley and Robert…
